Introduction
In the past the main and most customary Indian tribe in Montana was the Blackfeet Indian. The preliminary point of their name was perhaps consequence from the blackened moccasins clan conventionally wore. The dark hue may have been painted deliberately or might have been darkened by prairie fires. The Blackfeet Indian originally subsisted far to the east, north of the Great Lakes. Subsequent to the arrival of the Europeans, the Black feet Indian were one of the preliminary clan to instigate moving west. Rapidly they were roving huge segments of the northern plains. As they arrived they shack their life of forest hunters and gatherers and assumed the roving standard of living of the Plains Indians. (The Civilization of the American Indians Series 1983)

Prior to the horse, Blackfeet Indian drove buffalo over the pishkin for croping. Blackfeet Indian usually trekked in bands of twenty to thirty people, which appeared to be the most valuable number for buffalo hunting. Though, the clan would come mutually for different ceremonies and rites, similar to the Sun Dance, and for trade. The Black feet Indian turned admirable horsemen and hunter. They prolonged their region, and defied infringement by the white man until the late Nineteenth Century. By the wintry weather of 1882 the buffalo had approximately disappeared and the family was determined on to an ever attenuation stipulation. With no meat the Black feet Indian were on the verge of hunger. The Government endeavored to transform the roving hunters into farmers but was principally ineffective. In 1895, the clan sold what is now Glacier National Park to the government for mineral discovery. The clan presently lives on the Black feet Indian Reservation contiguous Glacier National Park.
