Introduction
The history of death sentence in the world leaves numerous questions to be answered, predominantly; has death penalty proved as the deterrent? Does taking away a life will finally eradicate the evil acts? Death penalty is considered to be the most questionable and infamous practice of law in many parts of the world today. The current model of capital punishment as a way of deterrence, justice, moderation or disabling the future criminals, healing and restoration is not new. It is significantly understandable from the way human psychology is shaped by the fear of experiencing the same with the criminals themselves. The idea of prevention related with capital punishment has always had weight and sense. Therefore making capital punishment a public example serves the purpose but any judicial system, which works on any other principal than the principal of justice cant be relied and trusted. Capital punishment in America finds its roots through the similar way as is found by rest of the world. The general moral question of whether government has the right to punish criminals by killing them has long overwhelmed the philosophers and the religious scholars.
Why and Why not, the Capital Punishment
Supporters of the death penalty in often argue about the implication of certain verses in holy books and about the general question of whether people should forfeit their right to life when they commit heinous crimes like murder. Similar moral arguments focus on whether it is fair to execute someone for a crime committed as a young or to execute the mentally impaired people. Many opponents of the death penalty argue on the same point and in addition they are of the opinion that, it is pointless for government to kill in order to show that killing is wrong (Lawrence C.
