The developmental history of Minneapolis, MN city started with mills, which received grain by means of rail lines extending across the Northern Plains grain belt into the Dakotas and Canada. Trains also carried the milled flour to Duluth and to eastern U.S. destinations both to be send abroad and local distribution. In the year 1870, the population of the city was 13,000. Twenty years later it had increased to almost 165,000. Following World War I the milling industry in Minneapolis started to reduce. As the industry developed out of Minneapolis, the old mills fell into abandonment. (Olson, Rochelle (2002)) Immediately after the United States pierced into World War I in 1917, a faction of 31 well-known businessmen planned the Aero Club of Minneapolis with the objective of supporting the central government in employing and preparing young men from the district to be pilots particularly to contribute in the war endeavor. Training flights were given at a 580-acre farm north of Minneapolis owned by Earle Brown, an Aero Club executive. The Twin Cities' attraction with aviation didn't finish with the war. In its place it transferred to the commercial and leisure uses of flying. A number of aviation-related companies were generated following the war, working from fields spread all through Minneapolis and St. Paul. (Olson, Rochelle (2002)) By 1919, the Civic and Commercial Association and qualified aviators in Minneapolis settled to the initial rules for flying over cities. The growth of lumber and flour milling and ancillary industries necessitated the growth of a banking system. The primary bank in St. Anthony was developed in 1857. The primary chief bank in the area was the First National Bank of Minneapolis in 1864. The Northwestern National Bank of Minneapolis was licensed in 1872, and its president was Dorilus Morrison who was also the very first mayor of Minneapolis..........
