Essay on Gun Control vs. NRA

The issue of Gun control has been long running in the United States. The public opinion is divided over the control issue. Some argue that it is a person’s right to bear a firearm for personal safety when the police is unable to help them. The politicians support the National Rifle Association (NRA) because it pours billions of dollars into presidential and governor campaigns. The main supporting lobby for politicians is the NRA. The point of view of the NRA is that the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution allows an individual to carry firearms. They also argue that the crime rate can be brought down if law abiding citizens have guns, making them safer from criminals.

The main rival of the NRA is the Handgun Control (the Brady Center) and its affiliate organization, the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence. The Brady Center is a non- profit national organization working to reduce the tragic toll of gun violence in the United States through research, education, and legal advocacy. Through its Legal Action Project, the center provides legal assistance to gun public entities and violence victims seeking to establish rules and regulations that will reduce and eventually eliminate gun violence.

The Brady Centre says that the Second Amendment does not allow carrying of guns. They also argue that the number of injuries or deaths is much higher if guns are available under easy access to people. The impact of this concern has been seen very recently in a number of school shootings. At more than 5 or 6 occasions a young teenage boy has shot down his teachers and fellow students with a gun causing multiple deaths and injuries. This behavior comes mainly from the influence of video games. However, if easy access to guns and arms is not available then such incidents can be stopped from happening in the future..........
