The Mission of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is to cater to the needs of every citizen, by giving them the highest level of safety, service and security. Moreover, CHP also assists government organizations and agencies during emergencies. Therefore in order to fulfill there mission the Highway Patrol team requires many personnel so that they can cater to the increasing demand of the growing population in California.
The Recruitment Program offered by the California Highway Patrol is thus based on the philosophy that the strength of the organization and the team is conditional on the successful recruitment of qualified personnel. The CHP wants to recruit those people who are a reflection of the community they serve.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was founded in 1929 under the State Legislature. Ever since then CHP stands as a symbol of excellent services and value based tradition that has evolved the institution into one of the leading law enforcement agencies in the world.
However, CHP now has grown more than its original mission. Each member of the California Highway Patrol team is responsible for effective traffic implementation and highway safety throughout the entire state. The duties of a CHP officer includes issuing of traffic citations, checking and arresting if necessary drivers who are using alcohol and drug while driving, investigating traffic accidents and monitoring and addressing vehicle theft issues, and moreover, an officer also provides support to the motoring public. Moreover, CHP upon request also offers it services for law enforcement to local organizations or agencies.
Officers are also given various special assignments. These special assignments include canine narcotic imposing, commercial vehicle examination, fixed wing or helicopter operations. It also includes guarding the State Capital on horseback or by a bicycle, carrying out of Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) operations, and Campaign against Marijuana Planting (C.A.M.P.)............
