Ancient History

Pakistan is a state that came into being as a result of the division of India after the British rule came to an end in 1947. The Indian soil has created a number of old civilizations and has always been a strategic route of trade. The signs of Indus valley civilization are still found in the area of Mo-henjo-daro now in Pakistan.

The Indian soil was inhibited by Aryans, Dravidians, Persians, Greeks, Huns, Kushans Scythians and Arabs. Indian soil has been conquered many a times by the out side invaders including Assyrians queen Semiramis, Alexander the Great, Sasanians, Afghans and Arabs. India was divided in to numerous small states governed by strong families in the region. The coastal areas of India were dominated by the Maharajas who possessed strong forces and patronized pirates. In 712 CE Arab Muslims under command of Muhammad Bin Qasim conquered the Indian coastal soil and established the initial foot holds. Muslims governed the Indian soil for eight hundred years.

Modern History

With the arrival of East India Company from Britain in India the Muslim rule gradually diminished and political control was extended. By 1857 the British cleared the last armed struggle and established complete control over India. Now Muslims and Hindus of Indians started combined effort to obtain independence from Britain and established a party named Indian National Congress in 1885. Muslim leaders thought of an independent state for Muslims of India because of the diverse cultures and customs of the two nations Muslims and Hindus.

For this purpose a political party called All India Muslim League was established in 1906.one of the Muslim poet of India Sir Muhammad Iqbal in 1930 presented a concept popularly known as ‘two nation theory’ and called for separate Muslim state based on the areas in east and north east of India dominated by Muslim....
