Machiavelli is known to be as one of the well known Italian historians as well as a great political thinker. This great political thinker’s philosophy is still widely debated in the world today pertaining to lying in politics and disingenuousness.

A most widely debated concept arises here again as to why and how Machiavelli considered lying to be an integral part of politics. A great statesman with a cunning mind was the description of this political thinker. He had various works established and is well-known for his work called “The Prince” where he discusses an approach as to how can a prince attain political power and stabilize it. The question that is raised here is that: will the employment of lying in politics help stabilize political relations? According to Machiavelli, Lying is indispensable! He mentions it in his work “The Prince”. Without lying, politics can simply not exist! Machiavelli’s excellent statesmanship was all due to his cunning and notorious nature.” He was a man full of philosophical and political ideas. His notions were mendacious and hypo critic. Perhaps this was the secret to his successful statesmanship but many were not actually satisfied with the philosophical ideas of Machiavelli as those true Christians who firmly believed in God, despised lying at all costs and were against hypocrisy”(Web,1). This made no difference in the reign of Machiavelli who pursued with his rule along with his political ideas. The neo-conservative philosopher Irving Kristol regarded Machiavelli as the first dogmatic philosopher who so effectively segregated politics from religion. Religion taught the message of truth while the world of politics is embedded in the roots of deceitfulness and hypocrisy.

   

Machiavelli resided in the city of Italy, Florence where he was born and he died at the same place. Following his rule, Italy was segregated into numerous sections called “city-states”....
