Catallus in short name and Gaius Valerius Catullus in full name, he was the greatest poet and a very famous writer of his times. Gaius Valerius Catullus was one of the well-known Roman poet as well as a great writer of Latin lyric verse. It has been thought that he was born in Verona (also known as Gallia Cisalpina) which is located in Northern Italy and later proceeded to Rome in 62 BC where he acquired a position in a group of young poet artists who wrote Latin poetic verses inspired by the Greek poets. These Greek poets belonged to the Hellenistic Age (4th century to the 1st century B.C.)(Web, 1)

Gaius Valerius Catullus was an affiliate of the elite and his father was a companion and comrade of Julius Caesar. Though his father and Julius Caesar were very good and old friends, Catullus never heeded the footsteps of his father but mocked Julius Caesar. He did mention his apologies Julius Caesar and he was invited for dinner the same day. But he never treated Julius Caesar with much respect.
