Essay on John Locke-2
John Locke was borne in Wrington, Somerset England on 29 August 1632 (Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge). His father john Locke Sr was a county attorney and clerk to justice of the peace. The grand father of John Locke Nicholas Locke was a wealthier trade man and landlord. When the civil war in 1642 started the father of john Locke, Locke Sr joined the army as captain and left the army after two years of service and expired in 1661. John and his brother Thomas were educated at home during their child hood. Later in 1646 john Locke was admitted in Westminster school where he was educated for about six years. In the year 1652 john Locke moved to oxford and was elected as junior studentship in Christ Church and was later a member of student’s body. During his stay at Oxford his loving mother passed away and after this incident john Locke decided to continue to stay at oxford where he spent his 30 years of life.
John Locke became personal physician to his friend lord Ashley [john Locke (1632-1704)] and was ultimately assigned various political duties by him.
By the year 1671 he was appointed secretary to the Lord proprieties of Carolina. After serving for four years on this appointment he shifted to France. In France he wrote his famous writing “Essay Concerning Human Understanding”. After 1679 when john Locke returned to England his friend Ashley had shifted to Holland as change of the government and possible charges against him. After the death of Ashley john Locke also fled to Holland and lived there under the cover name of Dr. Van Der Linden. He in spite of grant of pardon refused to return to England. John Locke however returned to England in 1689 and stayed in Westminster....
