Bradbury Thompson was born in 1911 in Topeka in Kansas and was educated from Washburn College. Bradbury Thompson is also known as the father of modern magazine design and has written number of books and articles on the art of designing. One of his famous books on the art is the Art of Graphic Design. In 1986 he was awarded the Time Directors Club medal on his meritorious services towards the profession of designing, life and art. Bradbury Thompson designed the layout of large number of magazines including Smithsonian. Thompson has designed edition limited books and postage stamps as well. Thompson has been actively involved in the artwork of rationalizing the alphabets, corporate identification programmes in addition to designing trademarks and sacred works. He designed the high school yearbook of The Washburn college bible [Father of Modern Magazine Design]. The zenith of his artwork is the presentation of his of classic typography to the modern world.
Thompson has been extremely popular as a designer of the magazines and has designed around sixty magazines issues of Westvaco Inspirations published by Westvaco Corporation. Thompson has also worked for over thirty years a member of the faculty in Yale school of arts [Paul Baker]. Thompson has been an extremely devoted professional that he was honored in this profession for the highest awards. American Institute of Graphic Arts, the national society of arts directors and the Society of Publication designers all awarded the honors for work presented by Thompson.
