Essay on Current Trends and Issues in Performance Management
The perception about management consulting, human resources and organizational culture are the growing areas of any organization. All over the world, they are getting a lot of attention. The human resources department is an integral part of any running organization. It is actually responsible for maintaining the right work force within the organization. This further includes taking in charge of the employees’ salaries and wages, performance evaluation, hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, fringe benefits, taking complaints and all other things related to the employee concerns.
The focus here is on producing Empowered Individual, who continuously adds value in the compatriot environment. The first characteristic of such an employee is having a clear vision, mission and conscience, and the ability to optimize strengths or gains. An empowered individual essentially has to optimize on the personal strengths.
In order to come up with such an output, it requires ‘Enabling’ forces. The characteristics mentioned below of an individual relate to the internal capabilities of a person. These can be in the form of discipline, abundance mentality, learning and change and self-management.
Discipline relates to managing behavior patterns of an individual. These represent the psychological factors, that is, ‘to do things right.’ But it should be managed rather than controlled so that it works in accordance with the ethics and responsibilities.
Abundance Mentality is to actually give up the fear of scarcity. It is to develop a mind set that every morning is not a Sunday. Failures can be turned around and results may take time. If the employee starts to think laterally, then he can easily achieve abundance mentality. He then gets to know that where he stands and what can he further do to improve himself.
