Essay on Macroeconomics and Its Affect on Daily Life
In ancient times people used the word ‘oikonomos’ for the management of house affairs. With the development of civilization rulers thought that ‘oikonomos’ be extended from the house to the frontiers of the country. In this way ‘oikonomos’ came to be known as political economy, which is now a subject to deal with different economic affairs of the country. When industrial revolution took place in England in 1770 many industries came into existence. Due to this many economic problems came up. For example problems of unemployment, housing, transport etc. Then there was a need to study these problems systematically and it was due to this background that economics came into existence. This paper will mainly focus on macroeconomics and it will tell that how macroeconomics affects our daily lives. “Macroeconomics is the economics sub-field of study that considers aggregate behavior, i.e. the study of the sum of individual economic decisions”(Macroeconomics).
Macroeconomics helps us in widening our mental horizons because it enables us to understand the economic realities of life e.g. the usefulness of saving and investment, behavior of genera price level, the need to boost exports and to control imports and the role of banking in business etc.It helps us in adjusting with the economic situation of the country. Adjustment to problems of inflation, unemployment and development of fiscal policies are done. Macro has been derived from a Greek word “ macros” which means large. Therefore, in macroeconomics, we study the large aggregate of an economy with a view to focus on the economy as a whole. This means that we talk about entire class instead of talking about each student separately as it is case of microstudy. There is a difference opinion among economists regarding the goals of economic life.
