Essay on What Makes a English Good Teacher
English is a language spoken and understood globally, and at the class room level there are students from different countries and cultures, as they come together as a class of students for the purpose of acquiring education. Therefore it is the duty of a good English teacher to communicate well with the students. In some way or the other foreign students are familiar with the terminology of the language. But there may be times when they might feel offence being brought in if the teacher does not use the right words at the right time. Therefore in order to become a well liked teacher it is necessary to perceive things from the students’ point of view, and if one is an English teacher, which mainly involves language, then it is crucial to use phrases and statements which are clearly understood by the students.
On the other side of it, a good English teacher needs to be patient as well as soft-spoken. The main reason analyzed for adopting such an attitude is that while communicating with a class, which is united to achieve one basic purpose, that is, to learn; hence it is first and foremost to make the students feel at ease. Thus the use of a soft tone would help bring the students at comfort. This way they would get involved in the class discussions. Resultantly this would prove that the English teacher has used his/her language skills effectively and has been able to create the perfect class room environment...............
