Essay on Philosophy of Education
Over the past four years, my Philosophy of Education has continually evolved. I am sure that throughout my years of teaching my ideas of the best way to educate children will keep changing constantly. It is for this reason that I must always be willing to evaluate and re-evaluate the educational principles in which I believe. After a thought provoking student teaching experience, I have discovered many things about educating children. First of all, I believe that children all learn in different ways. They are all capable of learning, but they must first be interested in the material. Their attention must be caught and held in order for them to truly benefit from a lesson. Guidance must be given to these children, but freethinking should be encouraged. When students are allowed to think without boundaries, they are able to explore and discover more than can be retained by simply being told information.
Regardless of how obscure knowledge is, it is important to be informed. Therefore, the curiosity of students about this knowledge should always be encouraged. Well-rounded persons know a great deal of information about many things, and students should be persuaded to strive for extra information. Understanding of different ideas and philosophies pushes a child to think more deeply and come up with their own opinions. Because of my beliefs involving students, learning styles, and knowledge in general, my educational philosophy involves a synthesis of many different teaching methods...................
