Essay on Curriculum and Instruction
Curriculum development is considered as plan for learning including programs through which students pass through. The curriculum in America has passed through stages of transformation over a long period of time and it continues to transform according to present day requirements. New skills and concepts have been developing in the world and so was the case with educational curriculum in America as well. Changes influence the renovation of the curriculum as well because of the necessary to put the ideas into an outlook. The study of new ideas has always created new principles for development of curriculum. Whenever the curriculum materializes it is seen that major factors have direct influences over its character.
Dominant factors can be subdivided into four major aspects that include Social forces of society, present state of knowledge and skills: Human intensification and growth: and learning as an element of a process [Wiles and Bondi, J].out of these factors the state of human development and growth plays most vital role in deciding the shape of curriculum. This is because the change of human behavior is related to the existing concepts and the philosophies held by a person. The beliefs held are reasonably personified and require a strenuous effort to change and for this purpose the styles and methods are to be developed in form of curriculum.
The behavior can be altered only through a curriculum that sounds plausible to the learners. In order to achieve the goal the regular revision and up gradation of the curriculum is necessary. This aspect of human change has therefore been the most influencing factor in development of curriculum in America. The curriculum is developed over a period of time considering the human desire to learn about the divergence between right and wrong, good and bad, true and false, metaphysics, fact and reality..................
