The purpose of this report is to write about the Battle of Agincourt which took place on Oct. 25, 1415 and its historical significance as a part of Hundred Year’s War.The Battle of Agincourt is regarded as one of the third great English victory over the French. This victory was one of the most overwhelming and unexpected result of the battle as against all odds, exhausted, sick and starving English army annihilate the French and slaughter the flower of French nobility.

The Battle of Agincourt was fought on October 25, 1415 (St. Crispin's Day) upon the muddy fields of Agincourt in northern France. It was a part of the Hundred Year’s War (116-years-long armed conflict) between an English army under King Henry V of England and a French one under Charles d'Albret, constable of France (Sidney R. Packard, Encarta). Two months prior, Henry had crossed the English Channel with 11,000 men in order to revive his claim to the French throne – an enduring theme of the Hundred Years War (Robert W. Martin). He wanted to invade France for several reasons, including: that by fighting a popular foreign war he would strengthen his position at home; and he hoped that he could improve his financial position by, either gaining lands in France which would secure him revenue, or by taking noble prisoners who would pay ransoms, or by extorting money from the French King in exchange for returning home (Battle of Agincourt, Wikipedia encyclopedia).

Hence, upon his arrival, he immediately proceeded to lay siege to Harfleur. However, while this siege was successful, English casualties were staggering as almost half his men had been lost, mostly to disease. Therefore, Henry, realizing that his campaign had to be aborted, pushed on towards the northeast to Calais, where English ships would return the remnants of his army to England.....
