Essay on Case Study Dialogue
Hello Doctor, My name is Andrea Colin. Mr. Jason referred me to you.
Therapist:
Hello, Andrea. Please have a seat. Yes, Mr. Jason did call to tell me that you will be coming in. Lets start from the beginning of what has been bothering you. Tell me what has brought you here today; tell me everything from the beginning, from your own point of view.
Andrea:
I wanted to come to you a long time back, but I was just so disturbed but now I can’t manage things anymore and I didn’t really have a choice but to come to you. My childhood was very disturbing with parents who did not pay much attention to me but when they did pay any attention to me that was only to criticize about everything I did. I have six siblings and have a year difference amongst us. My father had problems with keeping jobs so most of the time he was out of work he also had drinking problems. Most of the time he would be drunk and get mad at how would he feed his us. Sometimes he would beat us up or hit my mother blaming her for everything, though she even worked as a part time waitress.
Therapist:
Did you ever in any way think it was your fault your parents criticized you?
Andrea:
I did used to blame myself because Combined both together they hardly had enough money for clothes or to feed us. Me being the eldest always had to help around the house. Sometimes I would even miss school. Then later I started missing so much of school that when I would go to school I would be so behind the rest of the class sometimes the teacher would ask something and I wouldn’t know it. Students in my class laughed at me and then I couldn’t take it anymore.....
