Essay on Marijuana should be Legalized
It is very clear that society is unhappy with current efforts to stop illegal drug smuggling, drug use and distribution. No one in particular seems to know what should be done. With drug use and drug related crime on the rise, some people argue that current drug law is too easy on drug offenders. Society at large asks that whether the use of illegal drugs can ever be stopped. It is a question that unfortunately has no easy answer. More and more people in America feel that if this country cannot stop illegal drugs, drugs should be legalized and controlled. In my opinion too marijuana should be legalized.
It's time we put to rest the myth that smoking marijuana is an extreme or deviant activity, engaged in only by those on the margins of American society. In reality, marijuana smoking is tremendously common, and marijuana is the recreational drug of choice for millions of mainstream, middle class Americans.Marijuana is a mood altering or psychoactive drug that has many nicknames, such as pot, weed, ganja, herb, and others (Larry, 1998). It is an ancient drug that dates back to hundreds of years to Asia. Many cultures have used it during meditation, religious worship, and for intoxication.
Marijuana should be legalized
The sale and use of "controlled substances" would alleviate at least a dozen of our biggest social or political problems. Legalizing drugs would make our home and streets safer and so we will be able to sleep in our homes and walk the streets more safely. It would put an end to prison crowding which is a very serious and persistent problem making the prison environment violent and faceless to begin with and even more dangerous and dehumanizing. Drug legalization would free up police resources to fight crimes against people and property.....
