Culture plays a significant role while a marriage is taking place. The manner in which the matrimonial ceremony will be performed is in accordance with the religious background of the bride and the groom. So the cultural dimension would definitely reflect in the marriage taking place. American marriages greatly differ from Indian marriages. This is mainly because the Indian rituals performed during their marriage ceremony speak of the true Indian culture. This tells that there are a number of formalities to be fulfilled before and during the Indian marriage ceremony.
Where as American marriages are not greatly influenced by these external factors such as that of performance of a number of rituals. It basically involves a simple wedding day, where the couple is declared as married by the appointed religious head. Thus, technically Indian marriages and American marriages are distinguishable to a large extent.According to the U.S Census Bureau report on the characteristics of the American family in 1990: There were 9.7 million single parents in the nation, 41 percent more than 10 years earlier.
The dress of the bride is the first and the foremost distinguishable feature between the two opposite cultures. Indian brides wear the vibrant color red, representing the lively culture of the country. On the other hand, an American bride dresses up in a white wedding gown, signifying the beauty of the bride in a simple form. This difference is present because the country India is situated in the South Eastern region, and since ages the land has been known for its use of bright colors. Therefore the bride on her wedding day dresses up in a loud color, which is a reflection of the country’s cultural background.
