Concerns about the negative affects of TV violence on the health of the community emerged nearly after 1946. In 1952, the United States House of Representatives held meetings to explore the impact of television violence and concluded that the "television broadcast industry was a perpetrator and a deliverer of violence."  The reason why TV has so much effect on our mind than the print media is that because the images, color, animations, advertisements shown on TV are much more attractive to the eyes of not only the adults but also the children.

Various studies and researches have been done in US about the relative relationship between the violence shown on TV and its effect on community for example according to the US Surgeon General's 2001 report on youth violence, “Early exposure to TV violence (between the age of 6-11 years) is assessed to be as powerful a risk factor as having a hyperactivity diagnosis, receiving harsh, lax or inconsistent discipline, or poor school performance. Middle childhood (6-11 years) is implicated as a time when people are particularly susceptible to influence from TV violence.” According to another research conducted by USA’s top public health organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association, and the American Medical Association: "Over 1000 studies point overwhelmingly to a causal connection between media violence and aggressive behavior in some children. The conclusion of the public health community, based on over 30 years of research, is that viewing entertainment violence can lead to increases in aggressive attitudes, values and behavior, particularly in children."

Two of the major effects that the doctors have pointed out which impact the brain of especially children when they have continuous exposure to the TV violence are that of desensitization and mean world syndrome.
