Essay on Addiction
The addiction is primarily a behavior and pattern of abuse for any substance. The addict gets used to the effects of the substance and the amount increases gradually to feel satisfaction and required effects. Ultimately the addict starts experiencing the uncontrolled need of the substance. The addiction of the substance particularly the drugs, alcohol and other substances generate the sickness in the human body. The addiction it self creates a state of depression and the substances generate false state of judgment, opinion and restraints. The large amount of substances starts controlling the motor functions of the brain and has adverse effects.
The emotions and behavior is modified. The unwanted amount of the substances can create choking, vomiting and even state of coma. The prolonged addiction starts altering the genes in the brain, impairs the memory, effects concentration and inability to focus or concentration. The different facets of addiction have physiological basis related to consumption of the substances. The addiction to substances can further lead towards non-drug behaviors including gaming, sex, and even excessive use of Internet. Therefore the addiction can be classified as a chronic neurobiological disease with genetic and environmental factors that influences the growth and symptom.
