Essay on The future of Health Care
U.S. health care system was deployed to help out its citizen and to provide them health care facilities effectively and efficiently. However the skyrocketing costs make this ever more difficult to achieve. Due to these steadily hiking health care costs, the principal payers of these health care cost are faced with severe financial constraints. As a result of these financial stresses these payers end up directing resources away from other critical areas, such as providing their children with better college education and so on. As said by Rick Bayer, M.D, that in 1998, 18% of Americans under age 65 which actually make up the 44 million people in USA, were deprived of health insurance. Moreover, The World Health Organization ranked the U.S. health system a depressing 37th among the 191 countries.
However, given the figure of 191 countries US was much better than the rest but if one considers the amount of money spent by the government in health care than the picture becomes even more depressing. The U.S. spends more per capita on health care as compared to other industrialized nation-$4270 per person in 1998, compared to about $2000 per person among the 29 countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
This high cost of health care has far reaching repercussions. An average uninsured person many a times is not able to see a physician during the early stages of an illness. Due to which his illness goes untreated and then in a very later stage when that person goes to the doctor he is then given a very expensive medication hospitalization. Moreover, the uninsured person receives fewer screening and diagnostic test services to diagnose early cancer and heart disease, needles to say that these lead to the increased risk for the person to have an early death.Managed cost of the care is much out of control because of the opposing interest.......
