Embalming is a mortuary tradition, the art of preserving bodies after death, normally with the help of chemical substances. It is supposed to have initiated amongst the Egyptians, most likely before 4000 bc, and was used by them for more than 30 centuries. A great deal proof shows that embalming was religious in foundation, visualized as a means of getting the dead ready for the existence after death.
