Essay on Family Violence
Family violence between siblings is a growing problem today, which usually begins after the birth of a second child in the family. It is the feeling of envy, rivalry, enmity and hostility between brothers and sisters that often continues throughout their childhood and in some cases throughout their life and can be very annoying and stressful for the parents. In the beginning problem actions include beating, biting, frightening, pushing, hitting etc. But with the passage of time it may take adverse form and include severe actions like throwing things and threatening with a weapon. Violent actions also include oral threats and name-calling. Sibling violence can have serious affects on children as it influence their performance in school, damage their emotional growth and ruin their friendships and relationship with other classmates because they feel hurt and betrayed by facing violence at the hands of their trusted siblings.
How children are affected by sibling rivalry differs from one child to another and depends on the level and severity of the violence. It also depends on the nature and emotional development of each child as some of them are internally strong and are able to handle and tolerate violence and abuse with great courage and bravery. On the other hand some are so weak that they need someone who can act as a support for them in such tragic and dreadful situation.
It also depends on the ability of the parents and how they tackle the overall situation. Being a loving parent and handle sibling rivalry cleverly at their home is often difficult for both the adults.The impact of sibling rivalry on older children are more intense and deep but sometimes even infants feel and figure out the tension in the air and experience trouble in feeding, sleeping, and other daily activities......
