Essay on Abrahamic Faith
Abraham is seen as an individual with an extremely significant role in the history of man-kind. It is fair to regard him as a physical or spiritual ancestor of people who believe in and teach the worship of the one and only God. The Christians, Jews and Muslims equally revere Abraham.To the Jews, Abraham is the ancestor from whom the Hebrew people sprang. They look back to him as Father Abraham. He is regarded as the first Hebrew, whose dealings with the “God of heaven and earth were the foundation of Israel's intense monotheism-belief in one God only and its religious worship in the midst of pagan nations serving a multitude of idols.
Christians, also, with the Old Testament as an integral part of their Bible, regard Abraham with affection and respect, remembering that the very first verse of the New Testament speaks of Jesus Christ as "the son of Abraham." Christians, too, claim to worship only one God - the God of Abraham - the Lord God of heaven and earth. It cannot be denied that the true Christian faith of the New Testament is thoroughly monotheistic.
Islam is also an intensely monotheistic religion. Abraham holds a special place in the history of Islam. Every year Muslims remember the sacrifice made by Abraham in the name of God by celebrating an annual festival based on the Islamic calendar.It is evident that the followers of these three religions hold Abraham in high regard. They also share the belief that there is only one God.The Jewish people believe there is one God who created and rules the world. This God is omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (in all places at all times). God is also just and merciful......
