Deviance is behavior that relates to defiance of established customs standards, rules and laws of the society. The deviation encompasses an extremely large number of nonconformities of communal systems [Deviation and social control, chapter 7]. The deviance is cause because of different reasons. Some causes are acquired and some are and some are created. Some of the factors that influence the level of deviance are physical and some are environmental.

The social pressures some time cause the delinquency in personality of the humans. Lack of personal values and self-esteem also contribute towards acts of deviance. The compliance and deviance are both formed out of the society’s environments. Either these are related to cultural norms or when people are told that they are deviant norms. Deviance is considered to exist in almost all human societies to confirm the cultural values and standards. Moral boundaries of the society are clarified while social unity is promoted out of the deviant behavior of people. The deviance at the same time assists highlighting the weak areas of society and brings changes in the social system. It is also seen that the deviant behavior occurs mostly in less developed and lower classes of society.

The limited opportunities available to the low class people force them to adopt deviant attitude. Social inequalities also serve as basis of the social conflicts and less powerful people are considered deviants. The concepts of private ownership, productive labor, salary structures and forced respect to authority are also the contributing factors. A number of sociology theories are referred to the deviance that includes labeling theory, strain theory, social learning theory and conflict theory. The ultimate answer to the cause of the deviance has not yet been established. Lack of supervision, poverty and social injustices enhance the deviance in the society. The family conflicts effect the young people who tend to adopt the deviant behavior.......
