Essay on Children Grief
Feelings do exist in children of all ages as well. A child reacts when he is heart. The reaction is in form of crying and uncomfortable gestures. Although children have different concept of death at different ages but they do pass through the stage of grief at various ages. Children develop the concept of death over a period of time with their observations and experience of demises and funerals in their family and society. The initial reaction of a child on death of a relative is somewhat impassive.
This is because the emotional response capability in a child till certain age is not completely developed. The child feels grieved only when feels deprived of the comforts. For very long time it was considered that children cannot grief [Debra Houston] but it is proved that the children do grief and the style of grief differs at different stages of their life. The children however till certain age do not have the concept of life and death and therefore don’t react for death and show no signs of grief. As the child grow and senses start developing the grief is also felt and the child react to the grief.
The children may show the signs of grief in form some number of reactions that include segregation from family and getting quite and trying to satisfy him self by asking questions. The child may remain away and tend to forget the event and may also show the signs of anger [University of Utah].
Child Grief From Birth To 3 Years of Age
Experts claim that when the baby is born it has no senses that enable the child to feel the grief. The child has no concept of death and after some days of birth start reacting to the calls of the parents and start responding to the changing environments particularly when the baby wants to get attention of the caretaker.......
