Essay on Divorce
Jeff and Helen after a very successful love land married life. However, this marriage life like many others crumpled. Both applied have applied for divorce.Many Americans claim that they opted for divorce because they wanted the best for their children. They want to spare their children from their own petty fights and conflicts. Experts on marriage and family do agree that it’s better for some couples to split or take a divorce if it is better for their children. The experts unanimously agree that parents with a high conflict marriage life should take a divorce. This is because their hostile interaction, pr aggressive and destructive fighting can seriously their children’s’ personality. Studies have shown that these sort of marriages are only 30% out of the total, whereas 7-% of the divorces are low conflict marriage divorces, hence they should be avoided because such divorces can produce negative stress for children.
In a study by Raschke and Raschke (1979), some 289 grade school children were compared and studied. These children belonged from intact and single-parent families. The major objective of the study was to test whether a family structure had any impact on a child’s self-concept, and did children from high-conflict families had a relatively poor self concept. The study revealed that the children from high-conflict families had a poor self concept. Family structure did not have much impact on a child’s self concept. However, study did not show the nature of conflict perceived by the children. Whether the perceived conflict was verbal, physical or both
