The best thing about this job is that Registered nurses be authorized as nurse practitioners have to meet quite stringent requirements of education, experience and demonstrated skills in the context of practice in which authorization is sought before they are eligible to be entered onto the professional register as nurse practitioners. Only then will they acquire certain exclusive rights such as those relating to naming (holding themselves out as nurse practitioners) and prescribing. Which enables Nurse practitioners to be highly skilled, experienced, expert nurses, not beginning or novice nurses? The authorization of nurse practitioners does not mean that there will be the development of another level of nurses. What it does mean is that registered nurses who have developed higher level skills in certain areas of practice that are complemented by appropriate education and experience in the area of practice, may seek authorization.

The biggest challenges of nursing profession is to focus on key issues, develop the capacity to research and articulate the evolution going on within the profession. As more creative ways are developed to deliver consumer-focused quality health services, the traditional picture of the nurse, the doctor and the patient is being transformed.
