Essay on Anti-racism Training for Kids
We may all hold an idea of what a child is a concept, which needs neither certain nor specified attributes. "A conception of the child however is a specification of those attributes." Debates over conceptions of children are extremely complex, notwithstanding evident differences in conceptions held across different cultures and jurisdictions. Conceptions may include or be based on "boundaries" of childhood, its beginning and end; "dimensions" of childhood, such as cultural, legal and social relativisms (which may end at different times), and "divisions" within childhood, that is, sub-units of childhood. Racism must be tackled among the youngest generations to ensure good community relations in the future.
As mentioned, the historical construction of whiteness that is identified by race traitors reduces whiteness to an evil, one that must be destroyed. Refusing the reconstructionist approach of anti-racists, race traitors are committed to the abolition of whiteness and the white race. They further outline the abolitionist approach as against anti-racism when they note, in the same editorial, that they are unlikely to publish articles "promoting inter-racial harmony.
Professionals may provide direct care to children, but usually their contribution is one of advice and support to the primary careers, usually the parents. Partnership with parents is thus a prerequisite if services are to be delivered effectively to ill or disabled children. Families from BEM communities may have many assets, including strong and stable extended family networks, strong spiritual/faith environments, and a well developed sense of cultural identity. Recognising and valuing these assets will lead to more effective support and empowerment of families to work in full partnership with professionals.......
