Essay on Jihad of today
Jihad, the holy war is very much misunderstood by people today, because of the very simple reason of an undeniable trust in the preachers. Every religion has had time when people in their ignorance or in an unfettering faith over the preachers, (mullahs/ clerics in Islam, rabbi and monks in Christianity) have failed to go deeper in to the meaning and the detailed understanding of the injunctions of their religion. Such a time is known as the dark ages for the religion. When the flame of the religion is kindled only by a few, who being in their position find it exceptionally easy to distort and dispel the real meaning and the requirement of the religious beliefs and use them for their own benefit.
As a religion Islam, is not a very old one. One need not go very far in the pages of history to find the beginning of this religion from the deserts of Arabia. 1400 years that is exactly how old the religion of Islam is. Fortunately the world had progressed so much till the advent of Islam, that every moment, every event, every action taken by the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) has been recorded in great detail. Even the Holy Book, Quran, gives references of the events of the time when the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was preaching to the idol worshippers of Arabia. Hence, if I were to say that the religion of Islam has had a complete recording in the books of history, from its advent till date, won’t be wrong.
Unfortunately, we are in a time when most of the things are perception based. All the knowledge is fed to us through medium like Television, internet and print media. And hardly anyone tries to bother to find out what the real truth is. Take for example of ‘jihad’, a word which if pronounced “once only can strike fear in the hearts of anybody these days......
