Essay on Single Parenting
A single parent is defined as an individual who is raising one or more than one child on his/her own. The description of single parenthood may differ according to confined laws of nations or provinces. An individual becomes a single parent if they have been left alone after divorce, after desertion by the other parent, partition from the other parent, by the jailing of the other parent or after the other parent has died, or when a single person chooses to adopt. A single parent isn’t necessarily the biological mother or father of the child, or children, as a number of individuals decide to become single parents through innate or simulated insemination or adoption. Also, they may have taken on the role of parent due to a diversity of conditions containing one or both the biological parents being powerless to care for the child, death of one or both parent, incapability of absolute family to care for the child, or parental desertion of the child.
While several view single parents as being a contemporary trend, the percentage of single parents has lingered moderately stable. For example, in 1900 13% of Canadian families were single parent; in 1996 the number grew by one percent. The sole modification is in cause. In 1900 most single parent families were the consequence of the loss of a parent, while in 1996 they were typically based on divorce.
It is recognized that children in single parent homes cost inferior than those with two parents. In the United States, family arrangement donates to five individuality of a child’s well being. These comprise of minor birthrates and high death rates among children when there is just one parent.
