Essay on The Role of Women as Stated in the Bible
The actual role and rights of women in the Bible has been misunderstood due to general ignorance and lack of knowledge about the Christian system and way of life as a whole. Distortion of the media is also the main reason for lack of proper knowledge. In terms of religious obligations the Christian woman is no different from the Christian man.
According to the Bible there is no difference at all between men and women as far as their relationship to God is concerned (Carol, 1998). Both men and women are promised the same reward for good conducts and the same strict punishment for bad and evil conducts.According to the Bible woman is accorded full intellectual and spiritual equality with man. Woman is greatly encouraged to practice her religion and enhance intellectual and religious faculties throughout her life. In her relationship with men both are to observe modesty of dress and behavior and strict rules of morality which discourages and prohibits unnecessary and unwanted mixing of the sexes. Her relationship with her husband is totally based on mutual love and compassion. He is responsible for the all kind of support for the children and wife (Carol, 1998). The Christian woman is responsible for the care of home and the early training or children but she is not bound for these responsibilities. The Christian woman is allowed to own property and run her private business.
The Bible considers and declares men and women equal. The Bible strictly condemned all types of practices and rules oppressing and degrading women. The same prohibitions and injunctions of the Bible equally apply to both women and man. The Bible gave woman the right of individual private ownership unhampered by husband, brother, father, son or anyone else. The Bible also gave the right of inheritance. The Bible gave women the right and authority to reject or accept a marriage proposal.....
