Essay on Registered Nursing
A registered nurse is required to perform her job with complete dedication and hard work. This is mainly because it involves health care problems and simultaneously it is the professional’s responsibility to perform the role of a health in charge. Health problems comprise of minor to major health related problems; and in the case of extremely serious diseases special care must be taken of the concerned patient.
The ‘1991 League of Registered Nurses Contract’ ensures that the patients are provided with health care services which are satisfactory from the patient’s point of view (Edward, 1998) Constant efforts are made by them to make available good quality health services for their patients. The nurses, who are registered through this contract, also avail some very good working conditions. The registered nurses are benefited in terms of guaranteed job security, seniority rights and raises. This is basically a specially trained team of nurses, who are always available to provide with medical services for those who require it, even in emergency situations.
Degree requirements for the Bachelor of Science in nursing are the completion of 128 credit hours with a grade average of ‘C’ and preferable, if a grade above ‘C’. A total of 128 credit hours consist of a 64 credit hours in nursing. The courses offered for nursing majors are English Composition, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Human Development (Life Span), Microbiology, Nutrition in Health and Disease, Psychology and Statistics. These courses require a Grade ‘C’ and preferably a better grade (Jack, 1999).
The main objective of taking up these courses is to understand the nursing profession from core. It is also to update oneself with the current nursing literature. It also brings to the learners knowledge about the history and development of this profession. Primarily, all States students are required to graduate from an approved nursing program and also pass a national licensing examination in order to obtain a nursing license.....
