Essay on Revenge in the Bible
It is stressed in the Bible, that do good even if some one has done something bad for you, and God will repay you when the time comes. Leave the evil person in the hands of God and then God will teach him a lesson on his part due. It is clearly stated in the Bible that do good for evil and the reward is yours. The Bible is not very supportive of revenge as it would be again retaliating for the injustice done on you. It is constantly being repeated in the Bible that even if your enemy is hungry, feed them as God would make them go through the punishment, and if you indulge into taking revenge yourself this would really make God angry. Revenge is therefore thought to be as an animal trait and not that of a human.
It is considered with a positive image to seek for revenge even if it brings pleasure to you. But on the other hand it has been mentioned that revenge could even further enhance the effects of a certain disease, rather than curing it. Thus, revenge is highly unliked by God, according to Bible and is strictly termed as evil. Hatred can be extremely destructive on a person’s part and it thus known as a cause leading to seeking for revenge. Hence the Bible prescribes to develop feelings of love and harmony as it will over shadow hatred for the wicked ones.
A clash actually occurs as the bible says you should follow the law of the land, in this case the law decided that he should be put to death. But the Bible also says that punishment is in God’s hands and that we should not seek for revenge.The Old Testament says that God was listing the punishment for certain sins like adultery, and the punishment and it was death.....
