Different people have different arguments about the origin and starting of the witch-craze. They said that poverty and a firm belief in magic was not the only reason of witch craze in mountain areas. The basic cause or the roots of witch craze were in the racial and social discrimination.
To prove the argument, it has been said that medieval civilization and feudalism flourished in plains, and mountains did not experience feudalism. Mountain people were usually live in orthodoxy as feudalism and Christian gospel both failed to establish there. The orthodoxy of mountain people gave rise to the concept of witchcraft. Witch trials and prosecution of these people as witches and heretics, thus is a form of social indifference (1).
