"A Raisin in the Sun" is a play written by Lorraine Hansberry, who is an African-American author. Lorraine Hansberry's work is concerning a black family in the Chicago's South-Side after the WWII. The Younger family lived in poor situation, and did not have enough money to have improved living standards. Nonetheless, Lena is waiting to get a ten thousand dollars check from her late-husband's insurance money. The 2 major characters in the play, Mama as well as Walter, want this money to be utilized for the profit of the entire family. Although both of them want to do good to the family, each one has a diverse suggestion of what to do with the money plus how to handle it to benefit everybody.
Walter Lee, similar to his father wants his family to have a healthier life and wants to spend the money in a liquor store. Mama is an adoring person; she is sensible but lives in the history. She believes that money is not something that makes a family contented (Hansberry, 1987).
