Essay on Individual and Group Therapy

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast the effectiveness of Group therapy over Individual Therapy. Group therapy is the most effective and the common system used these days. Even though individual therapy is also popular and is preferred under certain conditions. It has been proved by the research that women prefer to disclose more on personal or sensitive topics and are encouraged to express feelings and emotional support, while men prefer and are expected to avoid self-disclosure. These are socially learned roles and, since males and females play and socialize primarily with same-sex peers from early childhood, these behaviors are constantly modeled and reinforced.
