Human papillomavirus is a group of more than 70 types of viruses that can cause warts or papillomas. Although some types of Human papillomavirus cause common warts on hands and feet, genital Human papillomavirus’s are sexually transmitted and can cause warts in the genital and anal area of both men and women. Some strains of Human papillomavirus are associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer.
The virus is passed by direct contact during sex with a wart or skin that is infected with the virus. It is possible to get the warts on hands and in the mouth through contact during foreplay or oral sex. About 50% of individuals who are infected with Human papillomavirus never develop genital warts, but are still capable of transmitting the virus to others.

There is no specific cure for a Human papillomavirus infection, but the virus often can be controlled by podophyllin medicine derived from the roots of the plant Podophyllum peltatum or interferon, and the warts can be removed by cryosurgery, laser treatment or conventional surgery. Some scientists believe Human papillomavirus can ‘clear’ out of the body. Certain types of Human papillomavirus cause genital warts. They are spread by sexual contact with an infected partner and are very contagious. Approximately “two-thirds of persons who have sexual contact with a partner with genital warts will develop this disease” (Walboomers, 1999), usually within three months of contact.........
