Essay on Organ Transplantation in HIV Positive Individuals

Abstract
The purpose of this report is to illustrate organ transplantation in HIV positive patients. The reason for me to mention this case is to explain the fact that every new technology be it cloning, new inventions, trip to Mars etc all have there pros and cons and ethical issues but what we have to derive out of everything is the positive meaning of the use of the new technology rather than just focusing on its disadvantages and criticizing. In this report for the sake of mentioning I would like to focus on both pros and cons of the organ transplantation of the HIV positive.
Then the report explains the role of the healthcare professional when dealing with the organ transplantation of HIV positive patient. In the end I have taken a strong viewpoint as to what I think about this issue.

Introduction
I think that it is surely for us to believe that gone are those days when people who were human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive were ignored and were refused by the transplant centers. (Khouli et al., 2005) However, because treated patients can now expect to live substantially longer than before, (many will have end-stage organ disease long before they have life-threatening conditions related to HIV infection. (Bica et al, 2001) It is therefore time for the transplantation community transplants the organs in the people who are HIV positive.

According to some of the surveys deaths in the HIV community are down 60 to 75 percent since the 1996 introduction of antiretroviral therapy but ofcourse there are some health problems that are prevailing even due to the transplantation. Organ transplants could save many of these people, but transplant doctors have considered patients with HIV too risky a group for their valuable time and precious free organs...............
