Abstract
The purpose for this report is to write about post partum depression. For the purpose of clarification I have explained first that what post partum depression is which is known as the depression to the woman that occurs after the birth of a baby. Then this paper illustrates that which woman has the higher probability to suffer from this depression. Thirdly this paper explains the risks which are involved to the mother and the child when the mother is going through post partum depression. Then I have explained what immediate action the mother should take when she realizes that she is going through post partum depression. Lastly this paper explains in detail how the healthcare professionals can help the mothers overcome post partum depression.

What is post partum depression?
Depression to the woman that occurs after the birth of a baby is known as postpartum depression. Postpartum depression begins two to three weeks after delivery and lasts for at least two weeks, sometimes over a year. According to an estimate nearly 10-15% of all the women encounter postpartum depression after delivery. It is said that most of the mothers who suffer from the postpartum depression do not inform anyone else of the kind of feeling they going through. They may be persistently sad or experience mood shifts, crying, feelings of anxiety or of being overwhelmed, inability to sleep, irritability or agitation, and poor appetite and not only this but the woman might also lose interest in caring for her child. Postpartum depression is often divided into two types: early onset and late onset. An early onset most often seems like the "blues," a mild brief experience during the first days or weeks after birth.................
