Essay on The Weather and its Effects
Weather is continually changing through out the world and is related to the global warming. This warming has resulted into devastating storms in the last few years that are having lasting effects on the human life as a whole. The worst effected because of the storm’s are the economy and the social life of the nations. The storms bring natural disasters, floods and draughts of an extremely high magnitude. The storms that hit the American soil every year have long lasting effects on economies of the regional states. The national economic growth reduces and rebuilding costs a large amount of capital. Storms particularly the hurricanes cause significant damage to the commercial structures and residential accommodations. According to Bureau of Economic Analysis the two major storms Andrew and Iniki that hit America in 1992 had caused some 60 billion dollars loss to the fixed capital stock only [CSR 1992]. Storms cause drop in GDP and loss of capital and labor lessens the country’s ability to produce new goods and services. The tourism industry of the country is badly effected and overall employment of the nation reduces. Effects remain till the industry is rebuild and confidence of the visitors is reestablished. National Association of Home builders have estimated that around 200,000 homes only in New Orleans will have to be rebuilt and repaired [NAHB].
The economic forecasting is also effected as readjustments are to be made. Local trade is badly effected because of the storms but it has effects on broader national economy as well. The national and international trade is slowed down. If the areas effected are ports then the imports and exports come to stand still causing heavy revenue losses to the nation. Although the disruptions at the ports are not long lasting but if the alternate routes of traffic are not held the delays in delivery of the material can effect the production of industries.............
