Essay on Marine Pharmacology

Abstract
This report has discussed about history of Marine Pharmacology that is medicine made of sea species.
If we continued our hypothetical questions into marine-related chemical activities, many would be aware of a substantial research effort during the past decade or two into the secondary metabolites of marine organisms (marine natural products), which has resulted in an impressive chemical literature of molecular structures, many of them new to science and moreover possessing desirable biological properties.

Why has this apparently fruitful basic research not generated a greater awareness of the drugs and other chemicals of marine origin, or perhaps even an actual drug whose name is as familiar as aspirin or penicillin?

However, many examples have been given to show the research work carried by researchers. Current developments have also been focused. Besides that we have also discussed the safety measures of the marine Species that are in danger.

Introduction (Historical background)
Few people can name a single drug of marine origin, but researchers are seeking drugs from the sea for both highly specialised purposes, and everyday needs If asked to name some products of marine origin which are articles of commerce, most people would include sand, salt, fish shellfish pearls and precious corals. Some answers would also name algal polysaccharides (alginates, agar, carrageenan), but few would cite a specific organic compound, a drug or fine chemical, such as kainic acid. (Baker, J.1, 1984)

Commercial chemicals of marine origin
Kainic acid is a rather simple amino acid, a derivative of proline. It was first isolated from a red alga, Digenea simplex, in Japan, where the alga had long been used as an anthelmintic drug.

Kainic acid proved to be the active principle which was responsible for the drug's ascaricidal effect against intestinal parasites....
