The SAS mainly deals with our societal functionalism, including our interrelationships and their consequences. Talcott Parsons theory on the social system refers to the elements of the highly complexed society. Parsons pointed out four functional elements of any system of action, normally organized in the form of L-I-G-A.

1. Latency: Cultural System

     It is the ability to develop motivation among individuals. However, this also involves the cultural patterns that create and sustain these levels of motivation in these individuals.

2. Integration: Social System

     This is to regulate the interrelationship of the system’s component parts. Simultaneously this also has the capacity to manage the relationship of the rest three elements, Latency, Adaption and Goal-Attainment.

3. Goal-Attainment: Personality System

     It is primarily about the ability to define and achieve primary goals.

4. Adaption: Behavioral Organism

     This indicates the system’s ability to adapt to its environment, and also the ability to adapt the environment according to needs.

When the Parson theory is deeply studied it can be reviewed that in the system the higher levels were made to come first as according to him the lower levels provide the conditions and energy needed for the higher levels. Thus, the higher levels control the lower levels.

His theory stated that movement in the social life of man can take place from one state of equilibrium to another. That is, a change in the system is achieved by differentiation. In his later work Parsons used evolutionary theory in order to describe the changes in society that result from this.

Parsons theory specified that norms are important, social structures are systematic, many social processes are functional and lastly universalism and achievement are important in the U.S value system. But from the methodological point of view critics said that Parsons theory did not merge with actual research.....
