Deterrence theory is primarily a protective approach in the field of criminology that was developed after World War 2 and was used during the ear of cold warfare. Under this theory the regimes build and maintain a certain amount of forces and weapons so that other power does not carry out offensive due to the fear of great vengeance. The deterrence theory is taken as not sufficiently effective because of the misleading activities. This escalates the increase of arms race and military build up.  However the hypothesis of traditional deterrence is associated with the criminology and is related with the seeking of the answer that why the people involve themselves in the crimes. This assumption revolves around some aspects of human behavior that: the humans are the rational actors; they engage an end in their actions; they are free to choose a behavior based on their own calculations; the calculations involve the   element of satisfaction and pain; the choice is directed more towards pleasure; the choice is controlled by the fear of punishment of violation; the state is responsible for maintaining the state of discipline and severity of punishment is the main factor of controlling the crime.
