To get a better understanding of what nationalism is? one must learn the meaning of “nationalism.” Nationalism is the devotion to the interests or culture of a particular nation. Nationalism is striving forces that can help a country thrive. There are also different ways that a country can achieve nationalism. Nationalism is the key that unites people, and ideas of how nationalism can be achieved differ throughout the world (Young, Fife, 25-34).
There were many factors that led to the formation of nationalism. War and the idea of us, not them helped to establish the foundation of nationalism. The idea that you are fighting for your King and your nation. Also the revolting peasants were a contributing factor to destroying of the old idea of the feudal system, which led way for the nationalistic movement to grow. Finally the people loosing their faith in the church and turning to the king for new leadership. All of these factors contributed to the rise of the new idea of nationalism and the nation (Gillis, 12-17).
By "imperialism" I mean the process whereby the dominant politico-economic interests of one nation expropriate for their own enrichment the land, labor, raw materials, and markets of another people....
