The concept of personal ethics and values is generally related to all the good thoughts and deeds. In fact the main point and crux of the ethics is to say and to do what does not harm others. But this does not mean that one should stay out of the matter, to support right and being against the wrong is also important. Being a good human being it is important for a person to attract and direct others towards the right direction. Although sometimes it may also harm the personal interest but being a watchdog is the main purpose of media and the broadcast system. With the changing time broadcast media is taking the place of print media to a great extent.
Therefore the responsibility has now increased on the shoulders of the broadcast professionals to comply with the personal and broadcast ethics. There is a fine line, which should be taken in consideration so that the situation may not arise that the broadcast ethics can be sub dude by the personal ethics.
Growth of Broadcast ethics:
The broadcasting ethics traces their origin from the early 20th century. They were derived from the code of ethics, which were earlier identified for the radio. These code for ethics for television came into their own and rapidly enhanced with the development of the new medium in 1960. But their existence is no more acknowledged. In the beginning the role of television was like a motivator and informer. In short it had a persuasive role.
Soon the commercial role of broadcasting was determined and the urge of serving the private interest for economic gains arouses. The conflict of self-regulation and the Government regulation was raised. The vote was in favor of self-regulation.
