Globalization has hazards and a hideous dark side. Yet it can in addition to bring immense opportunities and benefits. Just as capitalism behooves a network of controlling systems to keep it from overwhelming societies, globalization requires watchfulness and the rule of law (Joseph, 2003). Anti-trust laws, the Securities and Exchange Commission, labor unions, charities, the Federal Trade Commission, and innumerable agencies and organizations keep American capitalism in audit.
People who work overseas all but invariably describe the experience as life defining. Some say it succored them sort through career goals, others accentuate the way living in France, Israel, and Thailand or just about anywhere exterior to US offered a fresh viewpoint on their own culture.
People, companies, organizations and other bodies go global for various reasons. One of that may be adventure (though this might be, for some the last reason). Another reason may be to have a global perspective. When you work abroad, you deal with differences every day, from the way corporate meetings are directed to how people socialize. Another reason may be career growth. However, not every job offers that level of accountability, though working abroad is one way to step exterior to the typical career paths available in the US.
In the corporate world, in specific, where business is often carried out on a global scale, international experience is valued as proof of one's ability to handle ambitious assignments and work with people from diverse cultures and settings. Further, self-understanding may motivate many to have a global perspective (Joseph, 2003). The decision to work away carries some risks. Nonetheless, one leaves much of what one knows behind. However those steps, while perilous, often carry huge rewards, particularly when it comes to gaining new understanding on your life and what's important.
