Eleanor Roosevelt's fundamental philosophy of life was that you are the sum result of the choices you make. To be vital, you must take charge of your own life, and accept responsibility for what you are and will become. The choices that you make are as a result of the values you hold. And, you can alter what you value (Prestwood, Schumann). "Try to understand the meaning of everything you encounter," she advised. "And, readjust your knowledge to this new knowledge." If you do this, then you can continue to learn and to grow as long as you live.
Eleanor Roosevelt sincerely believed and imparted that learning is a process that takes place throughout one’s life. If we keep an alert mind and learn from everything that we experience, we can eventually gain out of it in some way. The trick is to apply your experiences and learnings in all matters related to your daily lives. The most important ingredients in learning to learn are curiosity, interest, imagination, and a sense, of adventure of life. In the process of learning, what counts is not what you learn, "but the ideas and impressions that are aroused in you (Prestwood, Schumann)." She further advised that we must learn to face our fears, battle them and overcome them. This will allow us to face challenges in lives and what appeared once almost impossible to achieve, will be easily attainable.
