Introduction:
Poverty is a social condition or state, which is prevalent in every single country, every community and every nation today. But what exactly is poverty? The usual definitions of poverty are based on lack of finances. Poverty is hunger, poverty is lack of resources lack of food, medicines, clothing, or in short a complete lack of every necessity in life. Poverty has many faces that change from time to time but in true essence, Poverty is helplessness, inability, lack of means and freedom.
“Poverty is produced by circumstances, not individuals.” (Fincher and Wulff, 1998) The rapid increase in poverty and insufficiency world over during the last few decades has been related with the onset of rapid growth of the industrialism and money market. Where some people grew financially strong, the rest came under the effect of an economic crisis, which gave a boom to poverty leading to communal disorder and instability.
Poverty in this nation is a universal term. It has taken hold of everyone, men and women, young and old, black and white. It affects people in all communities of all countries, and of all ethnic groups. In my opinion poverty is a condition that will always remain, but a study and close look of the poor shows that they are not poor by their choice, they came to the condition so called as poverty was forced upon them and thus it effects them adversely.
Poverty is a trap that remains bound with the lower middle class in a society. They have o proper food to eat, no medicines to relieve them from diseases and ailments, no proper way of living, clothing to cover themselves with and even no means of having all those social rights that an average citizen enjoys.
